19:00-00:00 · Roter Saal • COMEDIASoundTrack_Cologne (STC), Europe's leading congress for music and sound in film, games, and media, which is held annually in Cologne, reaches its 21st edition this summer.
The four-day congress, which offers more than 60 events, including talks, case studies, workshops, masterclasses, and networking activities, culminates with an Award Ceremony open to the public for the very first time.
Two-time Oscar winner Gustavo Santaolalla will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award in the ceremony for his titanic contribution to the music industry, and some of his pieces for film, TV, and video games will be played that same night by the Neues Rheinisches Kammerorchester.
With more than 40 musicians on stage, the concert will also feature scores by composers Marcel Vaid and Adrian Frutiger (Davos 1917), the 2024 Grammy winners Stephen Barton and Gordy Haab (Star Wars Jedi: Survivor), Cristóbal Tapia de Veer and Kim Neundorf (The White Lotus) and Anthony Willis (Saltburn). Conductor: Yati Durant.
During the ceremony, the prizes WDR Filmscore Award, European Talent Award Sound Design, Peer Raben Music Award, and See the Sound Best Music Documentary will also be presented. The winner's music of the WDR Filmscore Award will be presented accompanied by the short film "Balcony Cacophony" (D: Quentin Haberham).

AcadeMeet Part 1
10:30-11:30 · DIE ZWEI • COMEDIAAcadeMeet is an education meeting platform at Soundtrack_Cologne, for higher education institutions, lecturers and professors, and their students focussing on media music and sound design. The meetings are held at a special meeting in Soundtrack_Cologne, and are headed by Dr. Yati Durant (composer and director of IMMSANE).
Formerly called EEAMS, AcadeMeet has been a leading yearly meeting for European colleagues since 2014. The meetings enable discussions on cross-institutional practice, generate International collaborations, and also offer current research and dialogue in contemporary media music practices. The International Media Music and Sound Arts Network in Education (IMMSANE) was founded through AcadeMeet, and also holds their yearly European Institutional meetings there.
All industry colleagues and Soundtrack_Cologne 21 participants are also welcome to the meetings by invitation.
The next AcadeMeet takes place during Soundtrack_Cologne 21 on Saturday 6 July, 2024 at the Comedia Theater (10:30 - 13:00).
