Reality Check · Working with Orchestra
at SoundTrack_Cologne 20

Three events at SoundTrack_Cologne 20 focus on working with Orchestra:

Thursday 22 June

Taming the Beast: Working Successfully with Orchestra with Dimitrie Leivici
How to properly communicate with the performers about your wishes, staying on top of developments and be prepared for all sorts of eventualities that may or may not occur during the precious and expensive time with the orchestra in the recording studio?

Concert violinist and concertmaster Dimitrie Leivici will address this key question in his panel at STC "Taming the Beast: Working Successfully with Orchestra." Leivici will explore the necessary knowledge any composer or conductor facing an orchestra needs to have in order to complete the required project to the satisfaction of producers and directors.

Orchestra Score: Recording and Production with Leonard Loock
Music producer for classical and film music Leonard Loock will give valuable insights and tips for music production: How do you approach a recording session, how to prepare, responsibilities for composers, different production techniques, possibilities in the edit, creation of soundscapes and more. "In today’s music landscape, an overwhelming majority, over 90 per cent, is consumed through recorded formats. The process of capturing performances or transcribing written compositions into recordings comes with inherent risks, but it also presents an array of exciting prospects and possibilities for artistic expression", says Loock regarding his talk within the strand on Working with Orchestra at STC 20.
