How to Make it in the Music Industry?
SoundTrack_Cologne 20
Succeeding in the world of music for film, television or video games can be a challenge when it comes to understanding how to get contracts, how much to charge for work, how to reach more audiences, what other markets are there for music, or whether or not to hire an agent. The Reality Check Business and Hands-On panels at Soundtrack_Cologne 20 will shed light on these issues.
A full-day Hands-On-Experience workshop on Friday, 23 June, with Thomas Mikusz and Valerie Dobbelaere, experts in public relations and composer promotion, will give you significant insights about making better contacts and promotion for your name and music. To participate in this workshop, please send an email with your name and the name of the workshop to workshop@soundtrackcologne.de
The Reality Check · Business module on Wednesday, 21 June, will comprise a panel with Annette Gentz, Jacob Snavely and Rosalie Vos who will discuss about the world of agents and managers and will give clues about when and why having an agent will be helpful in the music and film industry.
How do I get work and, when I get it, how do I keep it? This is the central core of the panel with the Danish composer Flemming Nordkrog, who will share his experience as a film and tv composer.
Verena Guido, Tina Pepper, Hansjörg Kohli and Stefan Döring will focus on the money side of the film music. Plain-talking: which kind of conditions you can expect, how much money for which kind of work.
Composer John Groves, who has been recently working in receptive sound therapy, and Prof. Oliver Graber, composer, pianist and codirector of the "Research Institute for Music-Medicine with a special focus on Arts for Health" will explore the future of music and sound in healthcare.
