CALL FOR ENTRIES: Wettbewerb für Komponist*innen und Sounddesigner*innen bei SoundTrack_Cologne

SoundTrack_Cologne 19 (8. – 11. Juni 2022) lädt angehende Komponist*innen und Sounddesigner*innen ein, im Wettbewerb EUROPEAN TALENT COMPETITION einen Kurzfilm neu zu vertonen und sich in den Kategorien WDR FILMSCORE AWARD und SOUNDDESIGN zu bewerben.

Ziel ist es, Bildebene und Narration des Kurzfilms „UnVernunft“ (Regie: Hanna Viktoria Heimann) musikalisch neu zu interpretieren. „UnVernunft“ ist eine Ko-Produktion von WennDann Film GmbH und der HFF München. Der Kurzfilm wird in Kooperation mit der HFF München für die ETC zur Verfügung gestellt.

Die Bewerber*innen können entweder Score und/oder Sounddesign einreichen. Sie können auch als Team aus Komponist*in und Sounddesigner*in zusammenarbeiten.
Insbesondere Sounddesigner*innen sind dazu aufgefordert, gerne auch Nur-Ton-Lösungen einzureichen!

Die zwölf Finalist*innen werden im Rahmen von SoundTrack_Cologne mit ihren Arbeiten dem Publikum und der Jury vorgestellt. Das Wettbewerbsscreening und die Preisverleihungs-Gala finden am Samstag, 11. Juni 2022 statt.

Der oder die Gewinner*in des WDR FILMSCORE AWARD erhält eine Aufnahmesession für eine eigene Filmkomposition mit einer Länge von 7- 9 Minuten mit dem WDR Funkhausorchester. Für viele Nachwuchskomponist*innen ist das die erste Möglichkeit, eine filmmusikalische Visitenkarte mit großem Orchester aufzunehmen.
Das beste SOUNDDESIGN gewinnt eine 5.1 Kurzfilm-Kinomischung in dem renommierten Kölner Tonstudio TORUS GmbH.




Wettbewerbsablauf:

Es gibt in diesem Jahr zwei Stufen des Wettbewerbs:

1. Die Teilnehmer*innen laden die aktuelle Schnittfassung des Kurzfilms nach ihrer Anmeldung herunter, um für sie Musik und Sounddesign bis zum Einsendeschluss am 1. Mai 2022 zu erstellen! (Bitte den angelegten Film wie in den Richtlinien beschrieben als .mp4-Datei oder .mov-Datei, die Audiospur als wav.-Datei hochladen!).

2. Die Vorjury sichtet die Einreichungen und wählt 12 Nominierte. Diese werden Mitte Mai benachrichtigt und erhalten mit der Nominierung auch den Picture Lock des Kurzfilms. Die Nominierten haben dann bis zum 3. Juni 2022 Zeit, ihre Musik und/oder Sounddesign an den Picture Lock anzupassen.

Achtung: Die Anpassung der Musik und/oder des Sounddesigns an den Picture Lock ist Voraussetzung für die Nominierten, um ihren Beitrag der Hauptjury zu präsentieren! Daher sollten die Nominierten sich die Zeit für die finale Anpassung ihrer Einreichungen zwischen Mitte Mai und dem 3.6.22 vormerken.

Teilnahmeberechtigt sind alle Studierenden der Fachbereiche Musik und Ton europäischer Hochschulen (keine Altersbegrenzung) sowie europäische Kreative bis zu einem Alter von einschließlich 30 Jahren.

Zusammenfassung: Drei Freundinnen machen sich für eine Party fertig. Rosa, die Gastgeberin, ist zwischen den kollidierenden Moralvorstellungen der anderen beiden hin- und hergerissen – bis ein Streit entbrennt, der auf blutige Weise eskaliert.

CALL FOR ENTRIES: Competition for young and upcoming composers and sounddesigners at SoundTrack_Cologne

SoundTrack_Cologne 19 (June 8 – 11, 2022) invites budding composers and sound designers to compose music or create the sound design for a short film in the EUROPEAN TALENT COMPETITION and to apply in the categories WDR FILMSCORE AWARD and SOUND DESIGN.
The aim is to musically interpret and connect the visuals and narration of the short film “UnVernunft” (D: Hanna Viktoria Heimann). “UnVernunft“ is a co-production of WennDann GmbH and HFF München. The short film is provided in cooperation with HFF München for the EUROPEAN TALENT COMPETITION.

Contestants may either compose the score and/or create the sound design for the short film, and may also work together in a team with another composer or sound designer. Sound designers in particular are encouraged also to submit sound-only projects!

The twelve finalists will be presented with their work to the audience and jury at the SoundTrack_Cologne competition screening and the award gala on Saturday, June 11, 2022.

The winner of the WDR FILMSCORE AWARD will have the opportunity to record an original composition of 7 – 9 minutes length with the WDR Funkhausorchester – for many young composers this could be their first opportunity to record with a large orchestra and begin filling out their film-scoring calling card.
The winner for the best SOUND DESIGN will receive a 5.1 cinematic mix down in the prestigious Cologne based sound mixing studio TORUS GmbH.




Competition Procedure:

This year the competition will consist of two steps:

1. The participants have to download the current film version after their registration in order to produce the music and sound design until May 1, 2022! (Please upload the movie as described in the guidelines as .mp4 file or .mov file, the audio track as wav. file!)

2.The pre-jury will review the submissions and select 12 nominees. These will be notified in mid-May and will receive the Picture Lock together with their nomination. Nominees will then have time until June 3, 2022 to adapt their music and/or sound design to the Picture Lock.

Please note: The adaptation of the music and/or the sound design to the Picture Lock is a prerequisite for the nominees to present their entry to the main jury! Therefore, nominees should note the time for the final adaptation of their submissions between mid-May and June 3, 2022.

The contest is open to all active students in the fields of sound, music, and/or composition at a European film or music school (without age limit); or any young European creatives up to and including 30 years of age.
